Party Environments for Party in My Dorm

“Parties” are a key component of the core loop in Party in my Dorm Room (PimD). They integrate an energy-like system to perform actions with other club members. This entire feature was a hold-over from when PimD started as a reskin of the fantasy themed game Kingdom at War. Working closely with the UI/UX team, I redesigned the look of this system to better fit the theme of the game.

Refresh

While the party feature fell through, I wasn't satisfied with these old backgrounds. So I went about redoing their look while maintaining the existing core-loop.

Working with our UI artist, we explored each party. We made each one clearly coded using their existing colour language. I didn't want to confuse the players or clash with our existing items.

Final Look

The “party” feature is where players spend most of their time yet had the least amount of visual updates. I wanted to make the most impact with the least friction possible. Both for the players, but also the devs and designers.
