Observatory

An exhibit piece done for the "World Roulette" show at the Light Grey Art Lab in Minneapolis. The show's concept was to take 4 randomly generated words and create a world. Mine where: "Perpetual Night", "Gemstones", "Builders" and "New Scientific Age". Each piece will be compiled into a book for Kickstarter.

“Save for the soft scratch of writing on parchment, quiet blankets the land. As if world holds its breath, listening to the turning of celestial bodies. The song of the night sky humming its beautiful tune. They have listened to this song for years, tracking the source, recording, and documenting it. They had built this entire observatory with the express intent to find the source of the song. For as long as they can remember, their civilization has been guided by this song. It dictates their lives, their hopes, their dreams. They desperately wish to understand it, the world around them, and--by extension--themselves.

But tonight, they have laid fervency aside. Tonight, with the soft rhythmic pitter-patter of footsteps, the quiet turning of pages, and tinkling melody of instruments adjusting, they peer into the night sky. Watching, observing, documenting.”
